Willy the Rooster (ROUND 2)

SCENT OF THE DAY: Russian Oud 2, by Areej

christmas-vibe vanilla cinnamon stick drydown, a potpourri woodiness and treacle honey not too far from Tobacco Vanille. Russian oud: roasted and salted cocao powder/ Funkier oud, despite what I thought, than oud zhen—and despite being so braided into what seems a sea-salted tootsie roll. More deep and full-bodied and smokey—but less skanky and funky—than Bete de Foire or Iris Cocao. Russian oud seems much more aged than Miyaz. That creates depth. But yes it is less oudy in fecal sense or at least the fecal aspect and chocolate merge with each other. RO is also sweeter than both bete and iris cocao. / Melt my heart, which is sweet like Russianis Oud, seems like a lighter but muskier version of RO. / I like the musty musky side of Melt but i would sell it out of all these.

Willy the Rooster

Wedged midday between sidewalk and storefront, the wino— the one who, clockwork

as the freight train, throws asphalt haymakers at streetlamp shadows in midnight pain

(shouts folding to mumbles)— hides his face before the mirrors of a passing schoolgirl.

“We need books that affect us like a disaster, that grieve us deeply, like the death of someone we loved more than ourselves, like being banished into forests far from everyone, like a suicide. A book must be the axe for the frozen sea within us.”—Kafka (against the safe-space cancel culture pushed by anti-art bullies, left and right)
