Exorcism Rites for Cisnormative Panic (ROUND 1)

scent of the day: Civet Prestige, by Elkhaldi

First notes, rough

This comes off as a sibling to Kasturi Cola. Both are spicy and chocolately and creamy. I can even pick up on an artisanal cola facet (which is why people are already saying this is a replacement for Civet Cola, a fragrance I have not smelled). However, the spices here are more medicinal—medicinal, in fact, in a Chinese way (especially with the inclusion of star anise and sesame)—and the carob-like chocolateness is rooted in Civet Prestige in buttery-sour civet as opposed to powdered-tea musk and that brings Civet Prestige even closer to Oud Luwak than Kasturi Cola already is. Although it is less gourmand than Kasturi Cola (and definitely less desserty), one of the stand out elements of Civet Prestige is its nutty quality—a nuttiness that seems like sesame seed dusted with black pepper and perhaps even cumin (the sort of cumin I get in Serge Noir).

The sunny brightness here (ginger, citrus, osmanthus, honeysuckle, golden champaca) seems overlayed by a green filter. That filter adds a swampy green color (poopy-chocolate civet, various oud, meets rhu khus), the sort of swampy-green opacity we get from the vibe and the juice color of Royal Barn. The opacity of the green filter is about to the degree of frosted shower glass and bathroom windows

civet prestige is like a green civet spin on kasturi cola. the coffee is more tobacco bent here. enough to be a tobacco frag nice—the anisic-tobacco vibes makes this closer than you would think to Royal Tobacco. Indeed, this is more of a fennel benchmark than Royal Tobacco—excellent show of the note. Kasturi is more of a desserty chocolate coffee, but the tobacco impression that you can pick up on on in there (that tobacco that keeps Kasturi from going straight ice cream dolloped in cooffe)—yes, that tobacco is way ramped up here in Civet prestige. it could even be a tobacco scent that is green and civety nature of it pushes it further out of gourmand.

how the chocolate gets filtered through a green tobacco leaf like those old Garcia Vega blunts from back in the 90s. And here, because of the shit-breath Ethiopian civet, it is friend who rolled the blunt not only was an excessive licker but someone with halitosis. After the swamp evaporates we are left, because of the oud, with a crisp mineralic green ash. It is a weird combination, the crisp and the ash together—glassy volcanism almost. But, yes, this is think does transform in that way. It is a really good frag. Many people will sell, though, since they are getting a Kasturi twist.

*Let's workshop this poem about a nigga who, wrestling with inborn sin, leans upon our era's catechism on gender and attraction--a right-think script, a protocol, right out of an HR refresher module.

“Dating a trans girl, that doesn’t make me gay; dating a trans girl does not make me gay;

dating a trans girl, a girl, doesn’t make me gay; dating a trans girl—a girl who is a girl—

doesn’t—does not—make me, anyone, gay; dating a trans girl, I mean—it just doesn’t—.

“We need books that affect us like a disaster, that grieve us deeply, like the death of someone we loved more than ourselves, like being banished into forests far from everyone, like a suicide. A book must be the axe for the frozen sea within us.”—Kafka (against the safe-space cancel culture pushed by anti-art bullies, left and right)
